The Burnside catalog design, a sales tool for the wholesale division, showcases the products and image of the brand. Burnside’s target customers are young, active, and lifestyle driven. The concept was to create a fun, edgy and young looking catalog. One of the main features of the catalog design is the use of large color photographs. Each product style takes up a full page in the catalog really higgling each one. Large images, with younger models, helps set the catalog apart among the brands’ competitors. Designing the catalog smaller than the standard 8.5″ x 11″ size also helped keep the printing costs down, therefore, saving money with the larger photography. Just another way the catalog design breaks from the norm of the wholesale industry.
Shooting the photography with a ring light helped to create more dramatic photos that help highlight the clothing’s colors. Subtle vignette effect was also added to the page borders for an edgy effect, helping the bright color of the text stand out. For the text, a modern shadow box design was used keeping things well organized, easily readable, and very modern looking which is in tune with the brand image.
